A brief introduction.
The vessel was originally built for the Marine Department of Hong Kong as a fishery
survey and research vessel, named "TAI SHUN". The vessel was later on purchased by Allied
Ventures and renamed "KOSHI III". Subsequently, she was specially outfitted for
seabed surveys and soil investigations, mainly deployed in South East Asian waters.
Under her present ownership, acquired in 1995, she was renamed "JOHN" and has since undergone
extensive upgrading. In mid 2002 she changed flag and is now registered with and flying
the colours of Belize. In connection with this transfer of flag, her name was changed to "EMMA".
She is fitted with a variable pitch propeller in a nozzle, combined with triple
rudders and a bow thruster. The Bridge is equipped with forward and aft control
consoles/stations including an adjacent operation center, complete with facilities
such as Inmarsat Satelite Communications, Facsimile, Computers, Printers, Copiers, UPS,
Dinette pantry, etc.
Two processing laboratories. each approx. 15m2, are located on Main
Deck. Between the Sonar Room, via the Processing Laboratories and the Bridge, is a 10cm
diameter Cable Duct for easy and quick connection/interfacing to various inter-compartment
instruments.
On a very short notice, the vessel can be provided with equipment to cater for special and
individual requirements, i.e. Hydrographic and Geodetic Surveys, Diving Support,
Environment Protection, Inspection, Guarding, Salvage, Workshop, Supply or for Education/Training,
etc.
The vessel is fitted with a 3-point mooring system.
"EMMA" has an endurance at sea of more than 30 days. She is fully complying with
National and International Rules and Rregulations. "EMMA" is provided with a Safety
Equipment Certificate to carry 24 persons onboard, whereby her Crew Complement
will constitute 10 persons, the Master included.
The vessel is covered by an All Risk Hull & Machinery Policy incl. 4/4 RDC and FFO.
Crew liabilities including liability for passengers and environmental damage are covered by
a P&I Policy. In addition, the vessel is covered by a War Risks Insurance Policy.
